2018 Columnist of the Year!
What a thrill it was to be selected as Columnist of the Year.
I’m immensely proud, and overwhelmingly grateful for the encouragement I’ve received, because without someone else believing I could write a biweekly column about motherhood, there’s no way I would have tried.
It really is all in the trying, this writing thing, and the discipline to keep going, and the effort and time you spend alone with a keyboard, and the words bashing around in your head with no time to get them down. (Sometimes you lose those words, and it’s the worst).
Here’s the newspaper clipping of me shortly after winning. I look appropriately happy in the photo compared to how I felt inside.
